5 tips to increase your chances to your dream college

Create a Google Doc and put 2 sections, one section for academics and the other one for extracurricular activities and sports.  Add a picture of every report card and sort them chronologically in the academic section. Do the same for extracurricular and sports or volunteer activities (an example is certificates) This is important because it will make the process 10x easier when the college applications ask you to include your high school years achievements.    

Your biggest asset for entry into the college or university of your choice is your academic achievements. So, spend a lot of time on your studies and seek help from your school counselors and teachers if you need assistance. 

Do a bunch of practice tests and repeat them because practicing before the test boosts your score. Your performance on this test in your junior year is important because it is the first step in qualifying you for the National Merit Scholarship (a $10,000 college award). Also, take time in the summer of your junior year and consider practicing for the ACT or SAT. You can purchase the prep books and devote time to do the practice tests because it makes you know how your score would look like and if you are not satisfied with your score, you will still have plenty of time to review. Also, you can take a SAT prep and ACT prep class, however it is very expensive! Practicing for the exams will help you score high on these important tests. SAT and ACT scores weigh heavily at public colleges and universities and will increase your college admission chances to both public and private colleges and universities.

Most college applications and scholarship applications require submission of one or more essays. A great essay will increase your college admission chances and can get you admitted to top schools. If you are having a hard time choosing a topic for your essay, it helps to see other students college application essays. Also, start early (preferably sophomore or junior year) to think about some topics for your college essays.
